Roberta Boscolo

Climate and Energy Lead at WMO

Dr. Boscolo has over twenty years of experience in climate services, focusing on the Water-Energy-Food nexus in regions including Africa, South America, the Pacific, and Southeast Asia.

She develops weather, water, and climate services to support energy resilience and renewable energy. Her role includes membership on the scientific advisory board for several European Commission projects.

Dr. Boscolo's work bridges climate science with socioeconomic sectors, especially energy. She partners with stakeholders such as international organizations, public and private sectors, academia, civil society, and media.

Dr. Boscolo is also celebrated as a top Sustainability Influencer by the Sustainability Magazine and Onalytica and was awarded as one of the Global 50 Women in Sustainability by the SustainabilityX Magazine for her commitment to advancing resilient, low-carbon energy solutions for all. Since 2022, she is a member of the Expert Advisory Panel of the Earthshot Prize and Top Voice of LinkedIn for Green Economy.

Early in her career, Dr Boscolo served as a scientific project officer for the World Climate Research Programme, coordinating scientific efforts worldwide to address the knowledge gaps in understanding the Earth's climate system. The IPCC milestone reports assess such knowledge. She launched and managed multi-stakeholder development projects in 20+ countries, a portfolio of several multi-million projects funded by the European Commission, Adaptation Fund, and Swiss Development and Cooperation.
