This is Mind-Blowing: A Mountain of Clothing Waste on the Beaches of Ghana🏔️🧦
Where does all this waste come from?
From our fast-fashion and second-hand clothing markets.
According to The Or Foundation, over 15 million second-hand garments are imported every week.
Roughly 40% of that ends up as waste, often washed into the ocean, causing a public health crisis and harming the environment.
Why?
Because Ghana lacks proper waste management infrastructure—no recycling plants, no modern landfills, and very few formal dumpsites.
Estimates say that a landfill to handle this fast fashion waste would cost around $250 million
Meanwhile, fishermen—already facing countless challenges—now find themselves catching socks and plastic t-shirts instead of fish 🐠
Fast fashion's impact is undeniable
